2025 Swim Ontario Masters Provincial Championship Swim Meet Review

Middlesex Admin

Middlesex Swimming would like to pass along our congratulations to our 9 Masters swimmers who participated in the 2025 Swim Ontario Masters Provincials Championships held in Markham this past weekend Friday April 25th to Sunday, April 27th.

All of the 9 masters’ swimmers put together loads of outstanding performances over the weekend in Markham!!! Our group of 4 women ended up coming away with 12th place in total points scored at the swim meet among the 39 pointing teams and again carried the men, as they normally do. Our group of 5 men came in a very respectable 14th place out of the 42 pointing teams, and overall, the club placed 11th out of the 49 clubs in attendance at the competition!!! Again, the 11th place finish was exceptional considering that our club was the highest placing team with under 10 swimmers participating in the competition by far and the club ended up out pointing many bigger teams. Thus, yet again this year our athletes continue to show their pound for pound dominance!

The above being said the club would like to congratulate the Georgian Bay Squall for winning their third straight Provincial Championships.

The top scoring woman on the team was Tessa Meyer who scored an solid 144 points for the team and swam to top 3 placing finishes in all of her events (except for 1 race where she was still 5th) - AWESOME JOB TESSA!!! The top scoring man on the team as well as top scoring male swimmer at the entire championships was again Mackenzie Salmon who scored a total of 225 points across his races - Congratulations COACH MACKENZIE!!!

Again, the club would like to pass along our CONGRATULATIONS to Coach Mackenzie Salmon, Cameron Charlton, Jennifer Komorowski, and David Spence on winning their respective age categories this season within the Swim Ontario Swim Series. Each athlete received recognition at the swim meet in front of their fellow swimmers and the spectators for their performances within the series. In addition, each winner received a trophy as well as a $80.00 gift certificate to Team Aquatic Supplies - Congratulations everyone again on your outstanding accomplishments!!!

After the last swimmer touched the wall and the swim meet came to a close there were a total of 20 NEW CLUB RECORDS, 12 Gold Medals + 8 Silver Medals + 14 Bronze Medals (equaling 34 medals in total captured by our swimmers), many heat winners, and most importantly lots of positive memories that will last for many years to come - WAY TO GO TEAM!!!

The club would also like to thank the Thornhill Masters Aquatic Club (THOR), all of the volunteers, and Swim Ontario for putting on such an excellent event for the swimmers - Thank you!

And finally, the club again makes its normal plug towards anyone that is thinking about getting involved with these Masters swim meets in the future. These swim meets are always loads of fun to experience, you will likely make new friends (or reconnect with old ones), they are great opportunities to continue to help you grow as both an athlete and person, and these swim meets are excellent for giving everyone something else to work towards.

Further pictures highlighting the swim meet can be found on the club's Facebook and Instagram accounts.
